Between the old town walls and the Fort Carré stretches Port Vauban — Europe’s largest marina, where century-old fishing pointus share the water with some of the largest private yachts afloat. It is Antibes’ front door to the sea, and a superb evening walk.
The Quai des Milliardaires
The famous “billionaires’ quay” berths superyachts measured in tens of metres; strolling past their sterns at dusk is Antibes’ favourite free spectacle. This concentration of yachting is also why the town is full of international crews year-round — and why its bars and delis stay lively out of season.
For the view of the yachts against the Alps, walk out along the Môle Nord breakwater.
One caution, because the names collide: the Quai des Milliardaires is here, in the harbour. The Baie des Milliardaires is something else entirely — an anchorage on the far side of the Cap d’Antibes, best seen from the coastal path.
Nomade and the bastion
On the Saint-Jaume bastion at the harbour entrance sits Jaume Plensa’s Nomade — a seated figure of white steel letters, become the modern emblem of Antibes. Climb inside it at sunset, when the letters glow against the sky and the whole bay opens up.
From there, the ramparts lead straight back into the old town: the whole loop from our houses takes under an hour, camera stops included.
