Maison Soleiha — hero, holiday rental in Old Antibes

A village house on five levels, crowned by an 8 m² rooftop terrace above the terracotta roofs — sea views by day, Fort Carré glowing by night.

A 68 m² village house on Rue du Bateau, five levels high and without a lift: the TV room and a WC on the ground floor, a bedroom on each of the next two floors, the living room, open kitchen and a second WC on the third — and, up a discreet staircase, an 8 m² terrace on the roof, with the sea, the Salis beach and Fort Carré all around.

Comfort is woven through the old walls: air conditioning in each room, fibre broadband and hotel-standard linens; a washer-dryer, dishwasher, oven and microwave in the kitchen — and a TV room downstairs for film nights.

The film

Inside Maison Soleiha

Antibes first — the cape held out into the sea, the ramparts, the Nomade facing the water — then the roof terrace above the old town, and the rooms below it. Our own photographs, set in motion. No film crew came. How our films are made.

01
The terrace

Above the rooftops of Old Antibes

Eight square metres on the roof of the house, four floors up from the street, facing south-south-west and in sun from morning until sunset. The view runs over the terracotta roofs of the old town to the Mediterranean, the Promenade de la Salis and the beach below.

A table for four, a Weber gas barbecue and an antique stone washbasin. In the evening, Fort Carré is lit up in the distance, with the masts of Port Vauban beyond.

02
The living room

Old wood, old stone

Twenty square metres, three floors up from the street, lit by two windows and a skylight. Original herringbone parquet underfoot and the house’s old stone on the walls.

Two Tulip armchairs and a designer dining table for four; a 40-inch television, fibre broadband and Wi-Fi — and for a film night, the TV room with its sofa is on the ground floor.

A separate WC is on this floor, and behind the kitchen a staircase climbs to the terrace on the roof.

03
The kitchen

Contemporary design within a historic setting

Part of the 20 m² living space and open onto the living room, in clean contemporary lines: Veneta Cucine cabinetry, a white granite worktop and the house’s antique parquet underfoot.

Bosch throughout — oven, microwave, induction hob, dishwasher, a fridge with a freezer, and a washer-dryer. For breakfast, a Smeg toaster, kettle and filter coffee machine, and a Nespresso for the first espresso of the day.

04
Master bedroom I

Under the Dolce Vita

Fifteen square metres over Rue du Bateau, one floor up from the street, with a 160 × 200 cm bed made up with Black Label bedding, a dressing area with a dressing table, original travertine underfoot and the house’s old stone on the walls. The room sleeps under a large-format print of Dolce Vita, by the photographers Nik and Kerry Wheeler.

The en-suite bathroom has a 140 × 90 cm walk-in shower and a WC.

05
Master bedroom II

A Versace touch above old stone

Fifteen square metres over Rue du Bateau, two floors up from the street — exactly the size of the first bedroom — with a 160 × 200 cm bed made up with Black Label bedding, a dressing area with a dressing table and a television. A Versace tapestry hangs above the bed; original travertine underfoot and the house’s old stone on the walls.

The en-suite bathroom has a 120 × 90 cm walk-in shower and a WC.

06
The TV room

Film nights on the ground floor

On the ground floor, reached from the street without a step, with a window over Rue du Bateau: a Christian Lacroix sofa for four, a coffee table and two red velvet poufs, facing a 50-inch Samsung The Frame screen. A separate WC is on the same floor.

Location

Old Antibes, at the heart of its historic triangle

On Rue du Bateau, a truly exceptional setting: the Picasso Museum is 90 m away, the Provençal market 100 m and Notre-Dame-de-la-Platea Cathedral 150 m, each two or three minutes on foot, and the ramparts 40 m from the door.

A seventeenth-century building, with the house’s own front door on the street, secured by a reinforced door. There is no lift: the house rises over five levels, from the TV room on the ground floor to the terrace on the roof.

Cafés and restaurants, fashion and design boutiques, antique shops and art galleries are a few steps away. La Gravette beach is seven minutes on foot, Salis beach eighteen, and Port Vauban six.

I think this was the perfect stay in old town Antibes. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted with ease. The view from the balcony was lovely. The four of us would stay up enjoying food and wine on the balcony most nights. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and the kitchen was nicely equipped. Everything about the communication from Maggy and Henri was so nice too. I found their whole online presence to be aesthetically appealing and easy to use, as well as super helpful for our stay. They gave great recommendations and we got to have a fun Pilates session with Maggy one morning. I will definitely come back to Antibes and stay at another property of Maggy and Henri’s :)

Whole heartedly the best air b&b we have stayed in and we have stayed in a lot through out the world. We loved everything about it, spotlessly clean, beautiful linen, everything you could possibly want was there. Modern appliances, gorgeous bathrooms and full of style. We even decided to cook two of our 5 nights with having a bbq on the roof top. Markets 2 minutes walk away in the square that offers delicious fruit/veges/meat, you name it. This property really is exquisite. Thanks for having us, we will be back.

This our second time staying at one of Henri and Maggy’s houses in Antibes and will most certainly not be the last. Each home has been immaculate while being in the best location of Antibes. The house its self was beautiful, clean, with updated amenities. The view its self was much better than what is shown on Airbnb. The only “downside” was that the place was much smaller in person than what was shown online. Outside of that, 10/10 stay.

We had 6 nights in this beautifully renovated town house, with 2 comfortable ensuite bedrooms and aircon in every room which, despite being in the heart of old Antibes, was peaceful and calm. The interior was stylish and pristine with clever use of space and a well equipped modern kitchen. Outside it had the added bonus of a small but lovely terrace with dining seating for 4 and views to both the sea and the mountains. A great location close to everything there is to do in Antibes, many restaurants, shops, the sea etc etc.. Highly recommend!

My friend Kristy and I had a wonderful stay. The Airbnb is in a perfect location close to everything yet it feels peaceful and far away from the action. We were able to walk a few minutes to everything and at the same time sleep peacefully. They give amazing recommendations and the home is lovely.

We had a fabulous stay at Henri and Maggy's place. From the moment we arrived we felt at home with everything we could ask for. We loved the different floors for each of our bedrooms and the kitchen with the rooftop was just great for a group like us that did a lot of cooking. The local market produce is just fabulous. Having a toilet on each floor was great. Beds very comfortable. AC very strong which we appreciated in the sweltering heat. The apartment is finished to a very high level - there is a nice blend of original features an high tech. I could just stay there for months :) Coming out of the apartment with the sea to the right and the market and old town Antibes is a dream. We didn't hear one horn, one scooter the whole time we were there. Beach a short walk. I could go on! Thanks very much for an amazing stay and a great experience. 11/10 :)

This is a gem. It’s in old Antibes and close to everything. The unit was very comfortable! We stayed here with our two teenage girls. There was a lovely place within a 20 minute walk to rent small sailboats. Every morning we walked 1 minute to a beautiful market and buy our breakfast. I would stay here again!

Our family had a wonderful stay at Henri & Maggy’s home in the heart of Antibes’ Old Town. The apartment exceeded our expectations and truly felt like a home away from home. The unique five-level layout, topped by a beautiful rooftop terrace, made our stay unforgettable. Watching both the sunrise and sunset from the terrace was a highlight. The apartment was spacious, beautifully maintained, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The location is outstanding, with beaches, restaurants, cafés, and boutiques all within easy walking distance. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and Henri & Maggy were excellent hosts. We highly recommend this home to families and anyone who appreciates the authentic atmosphere of the French Riviera. Antibes is a fantastic destination, only 30 minutes from Nice Airport and about a 15-minute walk from the railway station.

Why we chose this house

From Soleiha’s rooftop you see what the swallows see: the terracotta roofs, the Salis beach, the hills — and at night, Fort Carré glowing across the bay. We restored this village house for that view alone. It rewards those who like their luxury quiet.
